Notewise AI credits and usage guide
Learn how Notewise AI credits are calculated and how different AI features use them.
Notewise AI is designed to help you analyze and learn from your notes. It can summarize content, explain concepts, generate work or study materials, and more.
1. How are credits calculated?
AI credit consumption varies based on several factors, including page count, content density (documents, text, audio, or handwriting complexity), and the complexity of your request β a quick question uses far fewer credits than generating a full podcast, and a request that pulls in a lot of content at once (like summarizing across many notes, or extensive back-and-forth on one very large document) will use more credits than a typical action.
The estimates below reflect typical usage across Notewise users
2. AI Usage Estimates
Below are estimated usage examples for the Notewise AI & Cloud Starter plan. Each estimate shows approximately how many actions you could perform if you used your entire monthly AI allowance on that feature alone.
All AI features share the same monthly credit pool, so using credits on one feature reduces the amount available for other AI features.
Notes:
These figures reflect typical usage. Actions involving unusually large or dense documents, or requests that pull in a lot of content at once, will use more credits per action β sometimes significantly more than a typical query.
All AI features draw from a single, shared monthly credit pool. The figures above show the maximum potential usage if you dedicated your entire monthly allowance to just one feature β using one feature (e.g. generating a Podcast) reduces what's available for others.
Notewise AI & Cloud Basic subscribers receive a smaller monthly allowance (approximately β of the Starter figures above) and do not include Guided Podcasts.
Notewise AI & Cloud Pro subscribers get approximately 3x the allowance listed above β designed for high-intensity study or professional use.
3. Frequently Asked Questions
When do my AI credits reset?
AI usage credits automatically reset on the 1st of every month, regardless of your specific subscription billing date. Unused credits from the previous month do not roll over.
Does "Deleting Chat History" restore my credits?
No. Deleting your chat history does not restore credits that have already been used to process or analyze your notes.
Why did one action use up a large chunk of my credits?
Credit cost scales with how much content a request processes, not a flat fee per action. A short question about a short note uses very few credits. Asking about a very large document, or requesting something broad like a summary across many notes at once, processes far more content β and can use substantially more credits in that single action.
What happens when I run out of AI credits?
When you run out of AI credits, features that require credits will be temporarily paused or unavailable. For example:
AI Note generation and updates will be paused.
You wonβt be able to ask new questions in AI Chat.
Audio transcription will be paused.
Other AI features that consume credits will also be unavailable.
Your existing notes and content will remain accessible.
These features will automatically resume once AI credits become available again, such as when your monthly allowance resets or after upgrading your plan.
