Lock your notes with password

On Notewise 2.13 and above, you can protect important notes with a password, ensuring your privacy and safeguarding sensitive information. This feature is perfect if you're using a shared tablet, handling work documents with confidential data, or simply want to keep personal notes, like a journal, secure from prying eyes!

Once a password is set, it will unlock all your locked notes. Individual notes cannot have separate passwords. You also have the option to unlock notes using your device’s screen lock or biometric authentication, such as Face ID on iPad or a fingerprint scanner on Android tablets.

Your password is stored locally on your device, not on our servers. This means we do not have access to your password and cannot recover it if forgotten.

Set Up Your Password

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap on Password.
  3. Enter your new password twice to confirm accuracy.
  4. Set a password hint. This hint will help you recover your password if needed.
  5. Optionally, enable the "Unlock with device lock" feature to use your device's lock method (Face ID, fingerprint, etc.) to unlock notes.

Forgot Your Password?

  • For Notewise Cloud Users:
If you forget your password, you can reset it through the password settings. A reset link will be sent to your Notewise Cloud email. After resetting, you can unlock all your locked notes using the new password.

  • For Notewise Unlimited and Free Users:
Unfortunately, password reset is not available. If you forget your password, we cannot recover your notes. To prevent this, make sure you set a helpful password hint during setup.

Make sure to choose a secure password and a useful hint to ensure you can always access your notes!
